Most of us need relatively equal amounts of work, Most of us need relatively equal amounts of work, rest, and play in order to lead a balanced life. Unfortunately, when we find the time to enjoy some fun, we won’t always be in sync with our partners, hence possibly leading to disappointment or conflict!

❣️ Make sure that your partner isn’t avoiding contact with you for some unspoken reason.
For instance, maybe you’ve made several attempts at having fun together, but your “good time” has often deteriorated into a “bad time.” If there is something causing your partner to not want to hang out with you, address whatever it is ASAP!

❣️ Suggest options that appeal to both of you.
If the two of you have varied interests without much overlap, you may need to exercise increased flexibility so that you both find playtime to be enjoyable. Consider taking turns picking the activity so that you each get your first choice evenly.

❣️ Once you settle on something to do together, even if it isn’t your favorite option, don’t complain.
There is nothing worse than hanging out with a spoilsport.

❣️ Keep your expectations reasonable.
Even highly compatible couples don’t always want to do the same thing, let alone at the same time.

❣️ Be empathetic toward your lover if they need extra rest.
Don’t take it personally. Just make sure that there isn’t something physically wrong causing fatigue. And remember: resting together can also sometimes be logged as playtime.

❣️ Remind your partner that a couple who plays together more likely stays together!
Without any sort of pressure, state the importance of the relationship to you and how you want to do whatever you can to help it grow in a healthy way!

All of us get stuck in situations, or with people, All of us get stuck in situations, or with people, where we feel like we’re trapped in some version of “Groundhog Day.” As such, we may experience our lives as monotonous or boring, even sometimes to the level of purposelessness. Sound familiar? Don’t despair!

Whether you’re entrenched in a dead-end job, a stale relationship, an empty house after your children have launched, or some other unfulfilling circumstance, you can make quick and simple changes to help you feel more excited about life right now!

Try the following tips:

🎩 Pick a hobby and take the first step toward starting it. Sometimes it’s easiest to add something new into our lives rather than attempt to massively delete or change major events.

🎩 Identify what it is that’s causing you to be in a rut. Are you afraid to make a change – do you fear failure – do you suffer low self-esteem and don’t feel deserving of something better? These are examples of the many questions you need to ask yourself in order to pinpoint what it is that keeps you stuck.

🎩 Create a vision board. Write out your goals without judgment. Dream big!! Eventually, you will fine-tune these items and create practical methods to achieve what is possible.

🎩 Make a goal with three steps to accomplish it within a week. For example, if you are bored with your job, set an intention to research new opportunities. Then 1) pick three job websites and start exploring the various categories, 2) take a vocational skills assessment online, and 3) redo your resume.

🎩 Say aloud what it is you want to change and then state it as if it is already so. For example, say “I am happily enjoying (fill in the blank) in my life for the better.”

Most importantly, trust in your own resources! You can do it! Enjoy Groundhog Day this weekend! Do you think Punxsutawney Phil will see his shadow?

(Note – if you suffer from depression or debilitating anxiety and don’t believe you can make the changes you desire, please seek professional help.)

Just as you can “unfollow” someone on Instagram, o Just as you can “unfollow” someone on Instagram, or block someone from your Facebook, you can learn to “unfriend” one of the enemies of the mind!

We live in a complicated world with many pressures and stressors. But worrying about things we cannot control is a recipe for disaster!

Dwelling on something that hasn’t happened yet (and may never happen), or being mired in regret over things that have already passed, will only thwart your ability to enjoy the present moment and deprive you of peace and joy.

So if you’re ready to start occupying your mind more productively, try the following 7 tips:

🖤 Visualize a stop sign in your mind.
🖤 Replace all “what if” questions with “what is,” and “what else?”
🖤 Remind yourself that most of the things we worry about don’t actually happen and when they do, they usually aren’t as bad as we imagined.
🖤 Keep a journal of things that bother you.
🖤 Practice the centering triangle.
🖤 Don’t procrastinate!
🖤 Do not over schedule yourself.

Now sit back, think happy thoughts, and take life one step at a time!

📖 "Dr. Mandel has a way of communicating that is both easy to understand while at the same time giving you the information you need to make tangible changes in your life. I recently bought the Dr.'s latest book, "Sassy & Rude..." and all I've done since is rave to my husband about it. My daughter is older now, but for me, it is never too late to learn something new, especially when it comes to improving my family life. I've always been close to our now adult daughter. Me, my husband, daughter and son are a tight knit group. However, there are little nuggets in the Dr.'s pages that have already shown positive results. We have know Dr. Mandel for some time now, and she has always been there for us. This book is another tool in the family arsenal that will help to improve my time together with my daughter. You must read it to find out for yourselves. PS- I love the built-in fold-over bookmark.
📖 "As mother to mother, I had a few laughs where I could definitely relate! Loved this book!"
📖 Well written, helpful, easy to read, and practical advice! I love all of Dr. Debra’s books.
📖 I heard the author of this book speak on the radio after friend told me she was having a real problem communicating with her adult daughter. I bought it and dropped it off with a note. She appreciated it. Didn’t stop speaking to me so I guess it helped.
